Dual Color Extrusion Printing with Simplify3D
Since both nozzles are co-planar you usually end up getting a fair amount of ooze bleeding from one color to another. This makes parts look messy and take a lot of post processing to correct. We recently bought Simplify3D and decided to try and see what options it had to mitigate these effects. The results are pretty impressive.
After using Simplify3D for a few weeks now it has become clear this is a Prosumer must-have. It opens up control options that some would call excessive and unnecessary, which is just how we like it. Simplify3D is to 3D printers what jailbreaking is to iphones.
You can implement these changes on your printer by printing out the wiper we added to thingiverse and downloading the simplify3d printer profiles.
What we added:
- A tool change script that cools the inactive nozzle to 165’C
- 3mm Vertical lift on travel moves
- A tool change script that primes the upcoming nozzle and wipes both nozzles on a custom wiper.
